The new Tourism Law prohibits smoking inside all hotels in Macao. All guests staying in hotels and commercialised resorts must wear nicotine-dispensing smocks, be subject to heat checks, and sign a Macao Health Code. Smoking is deemed to be a dangerous 'recreational habit' and is strictly prohibited within all resorts and hotels. The move was made to curb the island's growing smoking rate and has led to several airlines halting air travel to Macau. Other international carriers, however, have not given up on their flights to the small region.
